Terms of Use

Last updated 10 September 2026 — governing law is now England and Wales

These terms are the agreement between you and the person who makes CVTonic. They cover what you can expect from the app, what we expect from you, and how the subscription works. Like the privacy policy, this is written to be read rather than survived.

The short version

Who this agreement is with

CVTonic is made by Attila Isci, an individual developer. In these terms "we" and "us" mean him, and "you" means the person using the app. You can reach us at any time at hello@cvtonic.app.

This agreement is between you and us. It is not with Apple. Apple sells you the app and processes the payment, but Apple does not make CVTonic and is not responsible for it. There is a section below setting out exactly what that means, because Apple requires it to be said plainly.

How you accept this

Downloading CVTonic, opening it, or subscribing to PRO means you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. If you are agreeing on behalf of a company, you are confirming you are allowed to bind it.

Using the app

You may use CVTonic if you are old enough to enter a contract where you live. The app is rated 4+ and holds nothing unsuitable for any age, but it is a tool for people looking for work and it is not meant for children.

You can use the app without an account. Your CV then lives on your phone and nowhere else. An account exists so your work survives losing the phone, and so a subscription can be attached to something that follows you between devices. You are responsible for keeping access to the email address or the Apple or Google account you signed in with, because that is how we know a CV is yours.

One person, one account. Do not share an account or a subscription with someone else, and do not resell access to it.

The free plan

Without a subscription you can build one CV and download it as a PDF once, using the free template. That download is rendered by your phone rather than by us, and the CV is not uploaded to produce it. The score is free, always, and it is a real number computed from your CV rather than a teaser.

CVTonic PRO

PRO is an auto-renewing subscription sold through the App Store. It is offered weekly and yearly. There is no free trial.

The price is the one shown in the app at the moment you subscribe, in your own currency. We do not state amounts on this page, because Apple sets what a subscription costs in each country and either of us can change it. If a price changes in a way that affects a subscription you already hold, Apple will tell you and ask you to confirm before charging the new amount.

How billing works

Cancelling and refunds

Cancelling stops the next renewal. It does not end the period you have already paid for, and PRO keeps working until that period runs out.

Apple, not us, takes the money and issues refunds. Refund requests go to Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com. If you live somewhere with a statutory right to withdraw from a digital purchase, that right is yours and this paragraph does not remove it.

What deleting your account does to a subscription

Deleting your CVTonic account removes your CVs and your score history. It does not cancel an App Store subscription, because that subscription lives with Apple. Cancel it in your App Store settings as well, or it will keep renewing.

Your content

Everything you write in CVTonic is yours: your CV, your cover letters, the job descriptions you paste in. We claim no ownership of any of it.

To run the service you give us a narrow permission: to store your content, to sync it between your devices, to render it into a PDF, and to send the parts that are needed to the providers listed in the privacy policy at the moment you ask for something that needs them. That permission exists only to operate CVTonic for you, it is not exclusive, and it ends when you delete the content. We do not use your CV to train AI models, and we do not sell it.

You are responsible for what you put in. Do not upload someone else's CV as your own, do not claim qualifications you do not hold, and do not include anything you do not have the right to use.

The AI features

PRO includes AI writing: rewriting a bullet, drafting a summary, writing a cover letter, and suggesting fixes. These are drafts. They are generated by a language model, they can be wrong, generic, or confidently mistaken about your field, and they may repeat something that resembles text the model has seen before.

Read what it writes before you send it anywhere. A CV goes out under your name and stands on facts only you can check. We are not responsible for a job application that failed, an interview that went badly, or a claim on your CV that turned out not to be accurate.

AI features have daily limits, so one account cannot exhaust a shared service. The app says so plainly when you reach one, and the limit resets.

The score

The score is computed by a rule engine from what is actually in your CV. It is never floored, padded or invented, and it rises when the CV genuinely improves. That is a promise about the arithmetic, not about the outcome. A score of 100 is not an offer of employment, and no score on this or any other service can predict what a particular employer will do. The ATS ✓ badge means a template is built to be read cleanly by parsing software; it is not a guarantee that any specific system will parse it, because we do not control those systems.

What you agree not to do

Availability, and changes to the app

We try to keep CVTonic working, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. Parts of it depend on services we do not run, and those can fail. Editing your CV works offline; exporting, syncing, scoring on the server and the AI features need a connection, and the app tells you which is which.

Features can change. We may add, alter or withdraw parts of the app. If we withdraw something you are paying for, and there is no reasonable replacement, you can cancel and Apple will handle the remainder of your subscription.

Links to other places

The app and this site link out to a few places we do not run: Apple, for the subscription and for refunds; the sources credited below; and whatever you put in your own CV. We are not responsible for what is on the other end of a link, and following one puts you under that site's terms and its privacy policy rather than ours.

Ending this agreement

You can stop at any time: cancel the subscription in App Store settings, delete your data in Settings, and delete the app. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms, or to attack or defraud the service. If we do that other than for a good reason, you can ask Apple for a refund of what is unused.

If we have reason to think an account is being used against these terms, we may look into it, and we may remove content that clearly breaks them. We will respond to a valid legal order that requires us to hand something over, and we will tell you when we are allowed to. We do not go through people's CVs otherwise; the privacy policy sets out who can see what, and the answer is nearly always nobody.

Warranty and liability

CVTonic is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not give warranties that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that the AI output will suit your purpose, or that using it will get you a job.

To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost opportunities, lost earnings, or indirect or consequential losses. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid for CVTonic in the twelve months before the claim.

None of this removes rights you have that cannot be removed. If you are a consumer, your statutory consumer rights stand whatever this page says, and nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.

What you cover us for

If someone brings a claim against us because of what you did — content you uploaded that was not yours to upload, a use of the app that broke these terms, or someone else using your account — you agree to cover the reasonable cost of dealing with it, including legal fees.

This applies only as far as the law where you live allows, and it does not apply where the claim is our fault rather than yours. If you are a consumer, it does not cut into your statutory rights.

Apple's part in this

Apple requires that a custom agreement says the following, and it is worth saying clearly.

This agreement is with us, not Apple

These terms are between you and us alone. Apple is not a party to them. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for CVTonic and its content. These terms may not be inconsistent with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, and where they conflict, the Apple terms govern that point.

Scope of the licence

We grant you a personal, limited, non-transferable licence to use CVTonic on any Apple-branded product that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. The app may be accessed by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing.

Maintenance and support

We are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for CVTonic. Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services for it. Our support address is hello@cvtonic.app.

Warranty

We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent they are not effectively disclaimed above. If CVTonic fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to CVTonic, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are our responsibility.

Product claims

We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims you or a third party make relating to CVTonic or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.

Intellectual property claims

If a third party claims that CVTonic or your possession and use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.

Legal compliance

You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a terrorist supporting country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Third party terms

You must comply with any applicable third party terms of agreement when using CVTonic — for example, your wireless data plan.

Apple as a third party beneficiary

Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third party beneficiaries of these terms. On your acceptance of them, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce these terms against you as a third party beneficiary of them.

What is ours

The CVTonic name, the app, its code, its design and its templates are ours. Subscribing buys you the right to use them to make your own CV. It does not transfer them to you, and it does not let you copy a template into another product, republish the template set, or build a competing service out of them. The PDF you export is yours to do anything you like with — that is the whole point of it.

Other people's work

The fonts embedded in the CV templates are used under the SIL Open Font License. The city and country lists come from GeoNames, used under CC BY 4.0.

If something here infringes your rights

We take other people's copyright seriously, and we remove content that infringes it. If you believe something stored or shown by CVTonic infringes a copyright or another right you hold, write to hello@cvtonic.app and tell us:

We will look at it, remove what should be removed, and tell the person who uploaded it so they can answer. An account used repeatedly to infringe will be closed. Note that CVTonic is a private CV builder rather than a publishing platform: almost nothing in it is visible to anyone but the person who wrote it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may also bring proceedings where you live.

Where you are using it from

CVTonic is built in the United Kingdom and sold worldwide through the App Store. We do not claim it is appropriate or available everywhere, and if you use it somewhere it should not be used, that is on you. Complying with the law where you actually are is your responsibility.

Messages between us

We will reach you electronically: by email, or through the app itself. You agree that notices, agreements and disclosures sent that way count as being in writing, and you agree to receive them that way. That does not touch any statutory right you have to get something on paper.

Changes to these terms

If these terms change in a way that affects what you get or what you owe, we will update the date at the top and say what changed. Continuing to use CVTonic after that is how you accept the new version. If you do not accept it, cancel the subscription and stop using the app.
